Saturday May 7, 2022, we landed at Venice-Marco Polo Airport.
After a 20-minute bus ride, we arrive on the island of Venice. The entrance to the city is Piazzale Roma.
Once on the island of Venice, you can get around on foot, by gondola, by cab boat (E-Regata) or by Vaporetto, a bus-like boat. There are no motor vehicles on the island of Venice. No cars, scooters or scooters.
We booked a room on Air B&B less than 5 minutes walk from the Rialto Bridge. Through tiny alleys and passageways we arrive at our room.
With the six-hour time difference, we were very hungry. We found a restaurant with a terrace, open mid-afternoon, the Oro Restaurant. First meal of the trip: two courses of pasta, beer and aperol.
We spent the rest of the day walking and getting lost in the alleys, exploring Venice. Visit St. Mark’s square, Rialto port, Ponte dell’Accademia.
After a good night’s sleep we had our first breakfast in Italy, the speciality, croissants, café latte and an americano. And it won’t be the last…. Miamm!
Before leaving Venice, we rented a car from Europcar. So begins our two-week trip to Italy.
